Luxdlakes Cloudland International Kindergarten丨Design For Education

麓湖云朵幼儿园位于成都麓湖生态城,是万华集团与ISS(International Schools Services)联合打造,西南地区唯一运营的顶级双语幼儿园。

Luxelakes Cloudland International Kindergarten is located in Luxelakes Eco-city, Chengdu. It is jointly established by Wanhua and ISS and is the only top-tier bilingual kindergarten operated in the southwestern region of China.

The total construction area exceeds 10,000 square meters, with more than 5,000 square meters dedicated to outdoor activity spaces. The campus boasts a 270-degree lake view and is surrounded by 200 species of natural plants. It is a modern school equipped with comprehensive facilities and top-tier educational materials.

Beyond functional requirements for teaching, the design aims to break away from stereotypical kindergarten impressions—vibrant colors and uniformly organized activity spaces. Instead, it strives to establish an interior system centered on 【Design for Educational Services】 and 【Delivering Accurate Knowledge to Children】.

Design for Education Services

The interior design of Luxelakes Cloudland International Kindergarten transcends mere decoration. It creates immersive, storyline-driven scenarios that emphasize spatial connections and interdisciplinary thinking. By exploring STEAM-integrated spatial experiences, we prioritize children’s scale and perspective, embedding knowledge into environmental interactions.

The first-floor library follows the narrative *Let’s Go for a Drive*, featuring spaces themed around car racetracks, an undersea world, tidal zone adventures, and archaeological sites.

The second floor adopts a "Space Farm" concept. Magnetic rubber sticks simulate wheat fields, allowing children to construct pathways and navigate through this reconfigurable landscape. At the *Wheat Field Observatory*, they examine botanical specimens, merging natural science education with hands-on experimentation.

The third floor centers on a "Construction Site" theme. Using modular building blocks and simulated material storage units, it guides children to develop engineering thinking and teamwork through play.

These scenarios blur the boundaries between "play" and "learning" through deliberate use of colors, textures, and props. For instance, warm yellows and wood tones in the baking pod evoke coziness, while the construction zone’s steel-blue hues and metallic textures reflect industrial logic.

Deliver Correct Knowledge to Children

At Luxelakes Cloudland International Kindergarten, interiors transcend decoration to become knowledge carriers. Designers integrate science, aesthetics, and social values into daily environments via materials, colors, and interactive installations: .

The plant specimen station, for example, resulted from iterative consultations between award-winning illustrator Castindor (Gold Medal, Uncommissioned Category, Society of Illustrators 66th Annual Awards) and botanists, meticulously detailing roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits.

The "Vertical Forest" zone combines live plants with simulated ecosystems to teach natural cycles, allowing children to observe botanical growth processes.

Luxelakes Cloudland International Kindergarten’s design demonstrates how space itself can be pedagogical. From material safety to aesthetic expression, from scientific literacy to value cultivation, every detail embodies thoughtful consideration for child development. As the designers state: *"Good design should not impose, but empower children to autonomously discover the wonders of the world through exploration. Here, design becomes not just a shaper of space, but a bridge for children to converse with the world."
