Here is the English translation of the quote from Thoreau's "Walden":"Human beings seek a home, a warm place, or a comfortable place primarily to gain physical warmth, and only after that, emotional warmth."

▼本案所在地位于福州西湖公园旁，视野开阔，环境优美。“小隐在山林，大隐于市朝"，源自于对内心自得的追求，朴素日常的向往。设计以追溯东方意境为出发点，内倾自在，外向自然，于是便有了在闹市之中的湖畔居所。

This case is located near West Lake Park in Fuzhou, with a wide field of vision and beautiful surroundings. The concept of "Concealing in the mountains in quiet solitude, or hiding in the city's bustling morning" originates from the pursuit of inner contentment and a longing for a simple and modest daily life. The design draws inspiration from Eastern aesthetics, with an emphasis on inner tranquility and a connection to nature, resulting in a lakeside residence within the bustling city.

▼入户右侧是连续的餐吧台，引导着动线的深入，曲径到豁然开朗处，视线也由此贯穿整个空间。

On the right side as you enter, there is a continuous dining bar, guiding the flow of movement deeper into the space. The meandering path eventually leads to an open area, with the line of sight extending through the entire space.

▼茶室以方盒形态置于空间中，可视作园林中的“掩”，即是屋宇，前部架高出挑，采用不同材质木地板，用于打破空间中的视线局限，由近到远的延申。

The tea room is situated in a square box-like form within the space, which can be seen as a "screen" in the garden, serving as a structure. The front part of the box is elevated and uses different material wood flooring to break the visual constraints within the space, extending the view from close to far.

▼居所以“木”为主基调，使得空间还原最初始的裸感、细腻、通透，从而营造舒适、宁静的空间氛围。

The dwelling is primarily themed with "wood," aiming to restore the initial sense of rawness, delicacy, and transparency, creating a comfortable and tranquil atmosphere within the space.

▼“户槅”延续进了卧室之中，除了分割功能外，也呈现出“栅栏影绰，坐卧自得”的闲情雅致。

The "window grilles" continue into the bedroom, serving not only a dividing function but also presenting an aesthetic that exudes a sense of leisure and elegance, as if saying, "Amidst these delicate lattices, one can sit or lie down in contentment."

Allowing the individuals to take the center stage is the essence of the space. The design, while maintaining the practicality of everyday life, seeks to explore the deeper meaning of Eastern cultural heritage.

We aim for simplicity, even simpler, by minimizing the complexity and leaving only the essential elements of life.
